The five years, from 1957 to 1962, illustrated in this album represent the pinnacle of his art as an arranger and conductor. He toured the world, settled in Paris and became artistic director for Eddie Barclay's label. In the 1960s, he returned to the United States where he was appointed musical director of the Mercury label.
