Our friends from the Kompakt label unveil the backstage of making a vinyl!
The traditional lacquer method is carried out on an aluminum matrix previously covered with a thin layer of cellulosic lacquer. The previously mastered audio file is transferred from the computer to the press, which via a heating pen traces the microgrooves on the lacquer thickness. The disadvantage of this method lies in the fragility of the lacquer, but the sound quality is considered better by many enthusiasts. Several vinyls are necessary to obtain the desired quality, it is test-pressing.
